Emma's Review:

Jarvik is the last brother to find his mate in Jianne Carlo's Viking Warriors series. Known as The Seducer, Jarvik is a strong and sensual man. Elaina is his match in every way. Her sexuality is well hidden but clearly there. I loved the plot for this story. It has all scorching sex that we have come to expect from this series as well as a creative and intriguing storyline. We are reunited with all the brothers and their families. The loyalty and love amongst them is so appealing. It's also wonderful to experience the smouldering chemistry that still exists between the men and their wives even after the passage of time.The story wouldn't be complete without intrigue, schemes and a near death experience. Humor and true affection tie this family together and I can't remember the last time so enjoyed the final book in a series. The kids are great fun and it is a very poignant moment when the women stand to together to make a powerful statement to Elaina. This is one passionate and exciting series and I highly recommend starting at the beginning and experiencing the entire saga. If you love those Vikings, don't miss these fantastic stories.

Emma's Review:
Magnus is on his way to meet his betrothed when he saves a maid from a lecherous attack. He's beguiled by the woman but destined for another. Deidre has no wish to marry the man known as 'The Destroyer'. She is drawn to forest and its creatures. To avoid the marriage she dons a disguise and leaves the safety of her family. Rescued by a huge scarred warrior, Deidre is drawn in by his sensuality and gentleness. But now she fears what will happen when the warrior discovers that she is his bride.

Despite it's ominous title The Destroyer, this is fun, fanciful and sexy read. I love Magnus and found his vulnerability concerning his size and scars very endearing. I'm not sure I've ever taken to a character as quickly and completely as I did to Deidre/Daisy. Without a lick of caution or guile, she's just a breath of fresh air. And while the entire story is much more fantasy than fact, it is delightfully entertaining. Raw sensuality jumps from the pages when Magnus and Deidre come together. The animal scenes are sweet and add a touch of humor. I highly recommend the entire series and I do hope there are more stories to come. (Fiona could really use a man).

Emma's Review:
Njal is known as the Peacemaker, renowned for his diplomatic skill. Bettina is warrior woman bent on seeking vengeance. When the two meet, it's a less than auspicious occasion. They are forced to marry and try to forge an understanding. Neither is what the other wanted, but ultimately, they find a passion neither knew existed.

I love this series. I'm a big fan of erotic historical romance and this author is one of the reasons why. Bettina is an awesome character and while Njal is a bit stuffy, I learned to appreciate his finer qualities. There's plenty of steamy sex, but Bettina and Njal work well outside the bedroom too. The dialogue and setting lend the 'Viking' to this story. This is entertaining and saucy read. I've enjoyed watching the brothers meet their matches and can't wait for the next one.

Molly's Review:
Ms. Mercury is a new-to-me author, but this will most definitely not be the last time that I read her work! While I will admit that the beginning of this first book was slightly confusing for me, it did progress nicely, captivating me to the very end. I fell in love with Ivy, Neil and Harland; each working their way into my heart and gripping it.

Neil, an Aussie and head of security in the new Laramie City, is getting quite frustrated with hearing about all these prophecies from a half-wit named Zeke. He keeps rattling on about a "seer" and the prophecies that he's witnessing as coming true. Neil just wants to progress with the railroad coming to town. But, then he lays eyes on gorgeous Ivy Hudson.....and the handsome surveyor Harland Park. Sadly, now he has to invest time in investigating a murder....and silly seances' that Mr. Park and Miss Hudson insist on partaking in. All he wants is to find the murderer, court Ivy......and seduce Harland?

Ivy. Now that is a character who, at 31, is quite innocent in most all matters of sexual feelings. Tired of being compared to her 3 sisters, she travels to Laramie to live with her father there. What she finds is odd-minded men, spiritual photography, seances', murders.....and two of the sexiest men she's ever laid eyes on. She definitely can't deny the attraction she feels to both men; or the way her heart feels when she sees them together in the most perverse ways.

Then there's Harland Park. That character is quite complex, to say the least! Delving in more carnal desires than most, and having practice in sexual ways (both with men and women!), has left him very lustful for the fairer sexed maiden, Ivy.......and the good looking head of security. But, with all sorts of paranormal occurences, he's trying to seduce Neil...and Ivy. He keeps drifting to thoughts of the two people who now hold his affection and how he can teach them so much.

When Harland corners Neil in the kitchen, he shows him that there's something to the attraction between them. Together, they form a bond with Ivy, working together to solve a murder....and train the innocent young woman about passion and love.

This 4 star book is filled with humorous moments, hot, sexy passion, paranormal occurences and mystery. Just when you think you're about to know who the murderer is, something new comes into play for these 3 amazing characters; be it a new clue or new passion. Definitely recommended to all who love sexy western men, beautiful women and a passionately sizzling plot line. I can't wait to get to book 2 in this sizzling, sexy historical series!

Molly's Review:
Em Petrova deserves amazing praises. I fell in love with her writing style when reading book 1, Outlaws Of Love. She knows how to blend a richly detailed historic plot line with real-to-life characters that will steal your heart. From start to finish, the reader is wholly invested and becomes a true part of the Texas land and family love.

Trail Of Lust is Graham Hollis' story. I first read about him, when he made appearances in his cousin Xander's story. Though he only was in that one briefly, I fell in love with the romantic-at-heart cowboy instantly. His soul was tortured from his past and I just wanted to wrap my arms around him! In this book, he's still the tortured heart.....and very much attracted to neighboring rancher's daughter, Kathleen Allen. But, he's been through too much at war; seen too much; suffered too much loss to be any kind of good for her. After loosing his first to a murderer, and another man now seeking revenge by hunting Graham, he can't risk loosing his heart to her....can he? After one night of soiling the maiden, can he prove that he's man enough and good enough to keep Kathleen safe this time...or will history once again repeat itself?

Kathleen Allen has crushed on Graham Hollis since she was a youngster. Now, she's a beautiful young woman who's desperate for the touch and love of a sexy cowboy. Not just any cowboy, though. Lady Cressida Lovett has five children with her beloved husband and fears conceiving another one. She believes her only option is to put her husband off. When she hears rumors that Justin has turned to his former mistress for comfort, Cressida decides to seduce her husband back. She turns to the only women who can teach her, those who frequent the infamous salon of Mrs. Plumb. What she learns there will change her life marriage and her life.

The blurb for Lady Lovett's Little Dilemma had me intrigued from the start. I found the characters to be honest, endearing and very likable. Cressida is a remarkable woman and the length she's willing to go to save her marriage is a tribute to her love for Justin. Her dealings with Miss Mariah are very moving as she explains her fears and her mission. Justin's confusion over his wife's behavior is also emotional. I cheered for this couple from the start. The sex scenes in the book convey both the innocence and sensuality of Cressida. This could have been a great story but it's not. The issues of the lack of birth control and the ravages of childbirth are put forth at every turn. I'm not disputing the validity of these issues but they're approached with a modern disdain and the constant harping is very distracting. I got the point after the first few disparaging remarks and soon I was just tired of the whole discussion. In the end, the preaching just didn't work for me and interfered with an otherwise enjoyable story.

Sam's Review:
Lily Graison has created a wonderful sequel to her Willow Creek romance series. The second book is based on the outlaw, Colton Avery and the Sarah, a woman who gets kidnapped during a robbery.

The general plot is that Colton is an outlaw robbing banks and travelling with a rough gang. When one of the members takes Sarah during a robbery, Colton must protect her from their unscrupulous intentions. During his protection the sparks that fly between them, ignite the page and take you on a wonderful journey of two people discovering love.

I didn't know what to expect from The Outlaw, as second books never usually live up to the expectations of the first. I did thoroughly enjoy this book and felt Lily Graison had created some wonderful characters. I love who fiery Sarah was, even when she was thrown into danger. She refused to back down and never gave up. The attraction between Colton and Sarah is not instant but grows as the story develops. I think the scenes with them when they're fighting their attraction are quite funny and charming.

Overall, I found this a delightful read and it makes the reader look forward to the next installment in the series.

Abigail Thornton is on the run. The moment she walks into the Diamond Black Saloon she starts causing trouble. A fight leads her into the arms of the town Marshall, Morgan Avery. The Marshall doesn't believe her story and places her in jail. The moment these two meet, the sparks begin to fly.

Abigail isn't your typical female. She stands up to Morgan and fights for her corner. I found The Lawman a really enjoyable read. the scenes between Morgan and Abigail were steamy and added to their growing chemistry. I thought the scene where they got married was funny and I couldn't stop laughing through it.

Lily Graison is a new author to me and she's certainly made an impression with this story. It was really well written and thoroughly enjoyable.

This is a very short story, only nineteen pages but the author manages to bring you in to the fantasy world of a pirate.

Victoria wants her innocence to remain intact but she cannot deny the attraction she feels for the pirate Captain.

I don’t want to say much as this is a short story and so delving in too deep could spoil it for the reader. What I will say is it has a delightful twist, is really well written and even with the shortness the characters are wonderful.

A brilliant story.

Historical novels have been hit and miss with me lately. I’ve read both mainstream and erotica historicals and up until now, I lost faith in them. The Arrival of Lily Curtis restored my faith and excitement in historical novels.

Elizabeth is not your typical historical heroine. She is feisty, educated and knows what she wants out of life. She doesn’t like the “society image” that she is expected to live. She wants to live her own life on her terms and not by someone else’s. She wants to marry for love, not for duty or money. Her parents have reluctantly agreed to an arrangement of Elizabeth working as a maid on an estate to earn her own money so that she can live free of society in Paris, France. What drew me to Elizabeth/Lily were her spirit and her commitment to be true to herself and no one else. Ms. Brimble wrote Elizabeth/Lily will such passion that she would be a girlfriend to have in your corner.

Andrew is not your typical historical hero, either. He is a man that knows that he marry for duty and to produce the heir apparent but wants to marry for love instead. Unfortunately, he made a promise to his father and he will not break it. What Andrew didn’t factor in was Lily. She tempts him on a different level all together. She’s the maid but he senses something more in her. Once he gets to know her as a person and not a maid, he is hooked.

Ms. Brimble’s story could be set in any setting and the story would still be there for us to enjoy. What makes The Arrival of Lily Curtis set apart from other historical novels is the world that is created is described with fluidity and constant that I felt like I was there with them. She doesn’t describe a scene in such detail that you skip the showing of the scene just to get to the dialogue. The dialogue is sharp, funny and emotional. The secondary characters in the book are a big part of the story but don’t distract from Lily and Andrew. They enhance the story and add depth to each scene that they are in with them. While the bedroom scenes are sensual, they are not over the top and very appropriate for the time period.

I was sorry that this book ended. I felt like Lily and Andrew’s story could go on forever. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has lost faith in the historical genre; it will be restore with The Arrival of Lily Curtis.

What a refreshing change from the norm!

Gwyneth Carswell is one of the most independent historical women I have ever read about. She was fierce in her own right. Due to an unfortunate scandal, she is sent to the Scotland Highlands by her father. She was born and breed as a lady, but she blossomed into an amazing strong, protective and productive woman. Gwyneth takes her responsibility as a mother seriously and refuses to become a dithering love struck lass. She is a modern woman in 1618, a true gem.

Laird Alasdair MacGrath is pure heaven. When I sit back and fantasize what MY highlander looks like, I see Alasdair. Dark haired, tall and a body built from battle. That’s not all though, he is confident, smart, witty, charming, protective, kind and extremely passionate. He is a dream come true, but an unrealistic dream that Gwyneth believes she can never have.

My Fierce Highlander is a story that grabs you and won’t let go. It draws you in, pulling you up a hill of sexual tension and building suspense, then cresting the peak for a beautiful descent into the world of love and passion.

Gwyneth and Alasdair is a perfectly matched couple. The couple’s troubles, obstacles and victories all seemed real and ideal. Ms. Sinclair did a fabulous job writing a well balanced and enjoyable book. The story had just enough descriptions of the land and its people to enhance the story without bogging down the storyline. The action was intense and the love scenes were sultry.

The other characters truly enhanced the enjoyment of the story. Rory, Gwyneth’s son, was adorable and such a wonderful addition to the story. He kept the plot grounded and real. I absolutely adored Alasdair’s brother, Lachlan. He kept me chuckling and shaking my head at him throughout the book. He is a perfect scoundrel. He will be a great story to read about in the next book. I can’t wait.

This is superb historical romance that will keep you up late and engaged. My Fierce Highlander will be a keeper on my shelf.

Review:
A Duke’s Desire by Liz Cole was a great read from Breathless Press and a wonderful quick historical romance by Liz Cole. I believe this is the first book I’ve read by Liz Cole and I’ll be picking or finding another one very soon.

I love romances with an age gap and I loved watching the hero in this story lead but also crumble and succumb to the love and heat of the heroine. As it is a short read, the story line moves quickly and that is why I gave it 4 cups rather than the 5.

I felt it could have been longer. I’m a greedy reader and would have loved to have seen the build up a little more, which is described in the first few chapters. However, I recommend this as it is perfect for a quick fun, sexy read.

Oh where do I begin? I can absolutely NOT pass up the chance to read a Highland book. There is something about these large, sweet, tough, and somewhat naïve men that I just can not get enough of! This book was no exception.

Bree is my hero! She is exactly what I love to see in a book. Strong, capable, modern, and independent. Definitely not your average damsel in distress. When she begins digging in her backyard, she thinks she has hit the jackpot in the form of a long, lost treasure…boy did she ever! Who would have thunk that there would have been a Highland Warrior buried in her yard? I would have dug him up sooner.

Faelan is hell-bent on catching the demon that captured him 150 years ago, but also realizes that the woman that saved him from his crypt is the one. He needs her but she is not from his time and he really has no idea what to do with her, especially since she is not the “follow whatever the man says” kind of girl. So…road trip!! Off they go to slay the demon. I love it!!

I loved every second I spent reading this book and was actually sad to see it end. It had all that you could ever want…great characters, hot male roles, Scottish accents, action, adventure, and enough attraction to make you need a cool shower. There is nothing sexier than a Scottish clan trying to kill the evil…except one that will lay his life down for the fiery love of his life. Sigh.

Debut novels are always hard but Anita blew this one out of the water!! I can not wait until the next in the series comes out. I want to find out more about this world and the clan involved in it. This is definitely a series to watch out for.

I have never read a book as uniquely different from the romance book formula as Sugar Roux Voodoo by Katalina Leon. Set in New Orleans in 1834, this historical novel takes us on the journey of Lark LaBeau as she faces black magic in order to release her beloved Valcour from its evil claws. Lark definitely is a strong woman who defies what the norms that society has set for her from her very first moments in the busy seaport city. She is wildly erotic, yet earthly sensuous, dark, and mysterious. This enchanting novel is told through visions, dreams, and memories as the practicing voodoo priestess refuses to take no for an answer, especially where her lover is concerned. Ms. Leon tastefully interwove powerful sex scenes through a secondary character that causes not only our witch’s blood to boil, but also the reader’s. Sugar Roux Voodoo is an erotic tale that will have you eagerly awaiting each page.

Duke of Bellwood, Christopher Allwyne, will be a rich man soon. On his way to a funeral for his aunt, the Duchess of Bellwood, he encounter a mysterious stranger, the rich Marquis Evan de Lombard. During the travel, the men encounter a very seductive moment, leaving Allwyne bracing for love. The attraction between the men is obvious but it isn't until de Lombard reveals his true reasons for friending Allwyne that trouble ensues.

Hunt weaves a beautiful storyline with A Wicked Encounter. The dialogue, character connection and her writing style are perfectly crafted. Hunt draws in the reader with this M/M love story to a point that I couldn't stop reading once I started. The delectable characters made me want more and Hunt gave more. I recommend A Wicked Encounter and can honestly say, Hunt is a writer to watch in the future. Her refreshing style is a much needed voice in the M/M genre.

Luther and Chelsea have been seeing each other for 3 years. As much as she loves him she is finding their love making dull and boring. She wanted something more not just plain old sex. She tells Luther to either get more exciting or she is leaving. She goes and pretends to be someone else to lure Luther into her game. She is about to embark on a wild ride and who knows if she will make it.

I enjoyed the book as the characters were well done. It was tasteful and I wanted to see if Luther was going to come clean with the truth. If he did I wanted to see what Chelsea’s reaction would be. There are some great love scenes that will make you melt.

I'm a sucker for a hero who is not your typical "perfect" romance hero specimen. There's something sexy about them and Brian Evans is one such man. Twenty-year old Brian was born blind. His adoptive parents, Eliza and John Evans, found him when he was just a small boy of eight wandering the borders of their land, his alcoholic father having abandoned him to the elements shortly after his mother's death. Heartsick and scared out of his wits at first, Brian soon flourishes under the love and guidance of his new mother and father to grow into a fine, handsome, hardworking young man.

Young Lucy finds herself abandoned in Brian's sleepy little South Dakota town after her bigamist husband of one week tries to auction her off to the highest bidder. After he's chased off by the town's preacher, Lucy is temporarily taken in by Addy and Frank until the marshal and preacher have determined her fate.

Brian happens to be in town that day with his mother and hears of Lucy's predicament. The gentle young man instantly feels compassion for Lucy, having known first hand the fear and pain of abandonment.

The long and short of it is that Lucy gets an annulment and no jail time since she obviously had no clue that her ex was already married. Brian has an immediate soft spot for Lucy and decides to offer her a marriage of convenience. Fearful that she may be carrying the unwanted child of her bigamist ex, she readily accepts knowing that she needs a husband and no other such offer may be forthcoming.

They’re married in small ceremony right away and begin their new life together in Brian’s home surrounded by the love of his parents and the tender love that begins to steadily grow between the young couple.

I downloaded the free sample of this book from Smashwords on Thursday and started reading it Friday night. I reached the end of it (or middle rather) at 11:30 that night and ran downstairs in my underwear to buy it so I could finish the rest of it. LOL That is how much I loved this book! It was excellent, my favorite of all of Nordins books that I’ve read so far. In fact, I even went back and read certain favorite parts over again after finishing it Saturday morning; something that I haven’t done in ages.

I fell in love with Brian. Head over heels, just like Lucy. Even though there are times when he fleetingly wishes he did have his sight (like the times when he wishes he could see his wife’s beautiful face), he doesn’t let it get the best of him. After all, he’s been blind from birth so he can’t really miss what he never had in the first place, right? His other senses are so attuned that he “sees” much more than the average sighted person ever could, both on the surface and underneath. He’s handsome and sweet, with a quiet strength. He never lets his lack of sight get him down.

I also liked Lucy very much. A strong woman in her own right, she knows what she must do to survive. Desperate to leave her home (*bit of a spoiler alert here* - there’s an “evil twin” situation going on, too), she marries this idiot who’s already married with children and finds herself dumped in some strange place. Obviously, she’s scared and distraught at first. Who wouldn’t be? So, she really has no choice but to suck it up and make the best out of her situation. Bottom line, I didn’t want to reach through my Kindle screen and choke her to death, which is saying something. She knows and appreciates that while the way she ended up where she was not exactly ideal, she wouldn’t have met the love of her life if it hadn’t happened the way it did. It goes back to everything happens for a reason.

While I’m a sucker for a good romance, what also kept me turning the pages was the suspense that Nordin sprinkled through the pages. As I mentioned before, Lucy has an evil twin and I was more than happen to see her get what was coming to her. Bitch. As for the love scenes, while tamer than what I usually indulge in, they were still very touching and, if possible, made me fall even deeper in love with Brian. What he lacked at first in experience, he more than made up for in enthusiasm once he got he swing of things.

In closing, Ruth Ann Nordin spins a heartwarming tale of two young people brought together out of necessity, but soon find that the love that grows between them helps them dispel the lingering shadows and secrets of their past.
