Silas abuses her, like one of toys he can buy and sell with his illegal businesses. Finally, she gets the chance to escape only to have Silas McCutcheon find her again and leave her for dead after one last brutal attack.

The last thing Dominec expects to find barely alive, is a woman. As a recovering alcoholic, he knows the trials and tribulations of changing his life and he doesn't need the complications the woman represents. When Reana explains her past and begs him to let her heal in his remote cabin, sparks fly and attraction sizzles.

Silas wants Dominec's land and he'll do anything to get it, but when Silas finds
out that not only does Dominec have the land he wants, but also Reana, nothing will stop him from taking what he believes belongs to him.

Will the police safe house be their sanctuary or their burial ground when Silas
finds them?

Review:
This was the first Desmond Haas novel I've laid my eyes and hands on...but it won't be the last. The way Haas interweaves the main plot with a few secondary ones is brilliant. From having Tracey search for Arthur's daughter (family) that he lost years ago to the way Esther and Max intermingled in the story line, I applaud Haas for remembering to have underlying stories within the story.

The dialogue exchanges are well designed and the character personalities are honed in. Haas displays a fabulous progression to the story and left me waiting for the final 'gun-fight', Kudos to Haas for sharing this suspenseful romance.

Amanda Cooper, scarred from burns received in a car accident, suddenly meets her high school sweetheart. She keeps him at arms length, so he won’t be repulsed by her burns, but he wants to restart their relationship from ten years ago.

Meanwhile, someone unknown has been sending her threatening letters and is hunting her down to kill her. Will she be killed by whoever is stalking her, or will Eric convince her he sees her beauty beyond her scars?

Review:
A fast paced read that keeps you wanting to read and not put down the book. Amanda Cooper has a great job, house and somewhat of a love life; that is, until she finds out she is not the only woman Jeffery has been seeing. On their way home from a party, Amanda confronts him about it and they are involved in a car accident in which Amanda is scarred by all the burns and Jeffery burns up in the car.

Amanda’s boss and friend sends her to the beach for two weeks to relax and get away. She is shocked to see her ex-boyfriend from ten years ago approach her. He found out about her accident and hunted her down through her friends. He wants another chance but Amanda is afraid if Eric sees her scars, that will be the end of it.

After the accident, Amanda has been getting some threatening notes. Will that person cash in on the notes and hurt her?

The characters are all great and the storyline is remarkable. I did not want to put this book down. I enjoyed watching the relationship between Eric and Amanda take shape. This, to me, is a must read for anyone.
