After a childhood spent watching her psychic mother eek out a living reading tarot cards, Hayden Farrell believes in only one thing: being a cop. When a teen-age prostitute is brutally murdered, the Boston P.D. detective must trust a stranger to catch the killer. But is she willing to risk eternity?
Valentin Grigorievich has wanted revenge since London's most notorious serial killer destroyed what he valued most more than a century earlier. To get it, he needs Hayden's help--and maybe her life as well. Will the vampire's plan give him the satisfaction he craves or rob him of his soulmate?

Review:
OK, my first comment may seem like a great big negative about Risking Eternity, but it really isn’t. It’s just that this was a different experience for me. I have disliked characters before, but I really disliked Valentin a lot in this one. He is a vampire out to finish a score. Hell bent on revenge, no matter who he hurts. Ms. Haines did a fabulous job making Valentin undesirable. Great job!!
This story centers around three people even though you don’t meet the third person until the end of the story. Valentin, Hayden and Henry almost seem to share a past. Unknowingly, Hayden is a pawn in Valentin and Henry’s vendetta against each other. The story was well written and though I thought I knew what was going on, but I was still taken by surprise. Ms. Haines had me engaged and enthralled with the storyline and left me hanging in the end.
I do have to say I cheered Hayden’s choice, but was crushed at how it ended. I was frantic to find out when the next installment of this trilogy was coming. I’m sorry to inform you, I have no idea. On the plus side while Risking Eternity is a novella, I did read that the next very well could be a full length novel, YAY!!!
You will not find closure with this story, so be prepared, but you will be captured by the story and the promise of great things to come.
